Art Battle makes Stockport debut at Cityheart’s Stopford Park

January 2026

After a two-year break, September 2025 saw the return of Manchester’s popular Art Battle, this time to Cityheart’s Stopford Park scheme. The Russell Bolton Consulting (RBC) team worked with Cityheart, Grit Studios and OAK Construction to make the event a reality. Guests, artists and a DJ filled the space within the Grade II listed building, which will become Cheers and Smith following its restoration.

The impressive building and its slew of original period features provided the ideal backdrop for the 10 painters, illustrators and street artists to show off their skills. The Art Battle team, who pride themselves on never using the same space twice, look for buildings with character and a rich history so the former school offered an unmissable opportunity.

Ilyas Patel, Director at RBC, said: “We’re pleased to have been able to support Cityheart in bringing Art Battle to Stopford Park – Cheers & Smith is designed for creatives and collaboration so it was positive to be able to work around the various challenges to make the event a reality.”

The event was sponsored by Stockport’s BID, Totally Stockport.

RBC is delivering Project Management and Cost Management across the full Stopford Park development. The team is also Employers Agent and Cost Manager for the Bosdon and Torkington buildings and provided Early Development Management for the scheme.
